About
RMPA-NA
RMPA-NA is a professional organization promoting the practice, growth, and evolution of Rosen Method® bodywork and movement. In the spirit of mutual commitment, empowerment, generosity, and partnership, RMPA-NA values community and supports activities that strengthens and carries our work into the world. As such, we consider RMPA-NA a “work in progress” as the needs of our members evolve over time.
We are committed to “listening” to our Rosen community with transparency and integrity, involving the community in decisions which may influence the direction this organization wants to go in order to meet the needs of its membership. We do this by providing opportunities for all members of the North America Rosen Method community to access mutual support for personal and professional growth.
RMPA-NA strives to:
A. Provide a website to disseminate information regarding member activities and offerings such as peer gatherings, sharing circles, discussion groups and intensive trainings.
B. Provide a platform for sharing ideas and articles (for example, blogs and discussion forums.)
C. Provide opportunities to interact with Rosen peers across the globe by connecting through the International RMPA via the Rosen Institute.
D. Provide opportunities to further understanding of ethics and scope of practice within Rosen Method.
E. Offer quarterly talks and sharing circles related to Rosen Method from our pool of talented colleagues.
F. Make accessible our complete library of videos of prior presentations to all paid members who are in good standing with RMPA-NA.
When you touch one thing with deep awareness,
you touch everything.

Meet the Advisory Council

Emily Frey
Emily Frey has had a keen interest in all things Rosen for a very long time. She is part of the team of Luke & Emily Frey (Luke has been a bodywork practitioner for several years) and both Emily and Luke have been gracious to share their lovely land and home for many Rosen Method peer gatherings.
Emily brings to the Advisory Board a deep knowledge and appreciation of the work and is very familiar with the Rosen community in her capacity as the host for a great number of events for the Rosen community over the years.
Emily has a background in the medical field and has been a physician assistant, or PA, for many years, currently working for Madrone Care Network, providing community based palliative care in Mendocino County. She lives in Redwood Valley, California with her family and pets and is a new grandmother!
We are excited to have Emily’s wisdom, energy, integrity and passion for Rosen Method Bodywork and Movement as part of our Advisory Board team.

José Varela
José “Joe” Varela recently retired after several years as a public defender for Marin County, California. He is a self-published author and has been involved with Rosen Method in the capacity of an appreciative student for several years. His partner, Jetta Van Hemert, introduced him to Rosen Method.
You can always find Joe mastering the movements in one of the many movement classes he attends and he offers immeasurable support from the sidelines at the many Rosen Method Peer Gatherings he has attended and helped to organize. Joe brings to the Advisory Board an excitement and appreciation for this work and sees firsthand the benefit of both the movement and bodywork components in healing trauma. In fact, he credits Rosen practitioners with getting to the root of some of his major health issues and his subsequent fruitful recovery.
In retirement, Joe continues his work with non-profits and writes poetry and short stories. He lives in Montara, California (near San Francisco) with his partner, Jetta Van Hemert.
