My Rosen Method journey began at the Berkeley Center in 2001. I became certified as a Rosen Method bodywork practitioner and Rosen Method movement teacher in 2004. I have a private bodywork practice in San Jose, California.
I earned my BA from CIIS (California Institute of Integral Studies). My transition into having a bodywork career started in 1990 when I left “corporate America” and graduated from NHI (National Holistic Institute) as a certified massage therapist. I broadened my skills and knowledge base by volunteering as a part-time grief counselor, learning various modalities and areas of specialty, including Shamanic studies, acupressure, Reiki and chakra/energy balancing. Later, while living and practicing in Texas, I trained and practiced as a birth doula.
When I moved to Houston in 2005, I had to develop a new somatic bodywork practice. This project made it really evident that I needed much more focus on how to talk about Rosen Method. It was a huge challenge and I yearned for the opportunity to hear various professionals within our Rosen community who had specific expertise in other professional capacities and disciplines to speak about Rosen Method in order to learn for myself how to speak about our work.
When I returned to California, I had the opportunity to produce a video with the intention of bringing together experts in various disciplines from within the Rosen community to speak about and share their experiences and views of how they talk about Rosen Method. Many experienced Rosen practitioners were interviewed on video for a teaching film titled “Talk about Rosen Method.” This video/teaching film was produced in 2012 and can be viewed on the RMPA-NA website.
After all of these experiences, it was time for me to become certified as a Rosen Method Introductory Workshop teacher. After many years, I have recently returned to serving on the North American RMPA Steering Committee.
